Taxi

Haneda says flat-rate taxis run to central Tokyo, with expressway tolls on top, at rates approved by the transport ministry, and tells you to ask the taxi company (Haneda Airport taxi page). The fixed fares that third-party sites quote for Shibuya disagree with each other, and the Tokyo Hire-Taxi Association’s fare page did not load when we checked, so this page does not quote one. Ask for the fixed fare to Shibuya at the taxi stand before you get in. Hotels give 40 to 60 minutes.

For a booked car, the Haneda Airport Private Transfer is a door-to-door car with flight tracking and 90 minutes of free waiting, priced per group of up to five.

Which route for your hotel

Match the route to where you are sleeping and the last few hundred metres get easier.

  • Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu (Mark City): the bus stops at the building. By train, the hotel is about 3 minutes from the JR central gate.
  • Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel: the bus stops here too; the hotel gives about 60 minutes from Haneda.
  • SHIBUYA STREAM HOTEL: the hotel suggests the bus to Cerulean Tower (about 60 minutes). By train, it is 1 to 2 minutes from the JR New South gate, and the hotel gives about 60 minutes door to door.
  • sequence MIYASHITA PARK: take the train. It is about 3 minutes from Tokyo Metro exit B1 and about 7 minutes from the JR Hachiko exit.
  • Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya: about 5 minutes on foot from the station, so either the bus to Shibuya Station or the train works.

Arriving around Halloween

Shibuya City closes roads to vehicles in parts of the station area from 16:00 on Friday 30 October and from 16:00 on Saturday 31 October 2026, each time until early the next morning, and parking meters around the station are out of use. If you land that weekend and plan to take the bus or a taxi into Shibuya in the evening, expect diversions and allow for a walk with your bags. The train is the safer choice, and 31 October to 3 November 2026 are on the ¥590 monorail ticket’s sale dates.

Going back to Haneda

The same routes run in reverse. If you bought tax-free goods on or after 1 November 2026, you pay full price in the shop and claim the consumption tax back when you leave: within 90 days of purchase, before check-in, scan your passport at a tax-free terminal in the departure lobby. Haneda is one of the airports where you can start the process online through Visit Japan Web. Allow extra time for it.

After you arrive

Shibuya Station is being rebuilt and its gates keep moving. Read the Shibuya Station guide for the exit nearest your hotel, and buy an IC card at the airport: JR East lists Haneda Terminal 3 among the places selling Welcome Suica. One rule to know before you step outside: Shibuya bans smoking outdoors anywhere in the ward except at designated smoking areas, and patrol officers collect a ¥2,000 fine on the spot.
