SHIBUYA SKY is the open-air rooftop of Shibuya Scramble Square, 229 m above the Scramble Crossing. Adult web tickets cost ¥2,700 for entry before 15:00 and ¥3,400 from 15:00, with ¥300 more at the counter. Tickets go on sale two weeks ahead at midnight Japan time, in 20-minute entry windows.
SHIBUYA SKY is the observation deck on top of Shibuya Scramble Square, the tallest building in Shibuya at about 230 m. Its open-air roof, the SKY STAGE, is 229 m above the street, and one corner looks straight down on the Scramble Crossing. An adult web ticket costs ¥2,700 for entry before 15:00 and ¥3,400 from 15:00. Book on the official site as soon as sales open, two weeks ahead, if you want a sunset slot.
The building opened on 1 November 2019 with 47 floors above ground. Tickets and the entry gate are on the 14th floor.

Children under 12 need a ticketed adult with them. Child tickets are still sold at the counter on days when adult tickets have sold out. Holders of a Japanese disability certificate get 50% back at the 14F counter on the day, for themselves and one companion.
How booking works
Every ticket is for a date and a 20-minute entry window, such as 14:00 to 14:19. You cannot go in early. If you are late, staff may make you wait for a later slot, charge the difference in price, or refuse entry. Once inside there is no time limit, but there is no re-entry.
- When sales open: two weeks before the visit date, at 00:00 Japan time. The counter also sells up to two weeks ahead.
- Sold out online means sold out at the counter for adults. Cancelled tickets sometimes reappear on the site.
- Cancelling: official web tickets can be cancelled free up to the day before. On the day, only if the roof is closed at your slot. Counter tickets cannot be cancelled.
- Where to buy: the official site, or an authorised seller. As of 1 September 2026 the authorised list includes Klook, KKday, Trip.com, JTB, Tokyo Metro (with its 1-day pass) and Tokyu’s QSKIP. Tickets bought from unofficial resellers are void; the site names Fliggy and Taobao.
On Friday 23 October 2026, the day this page was checked, the official site said that day’s tickets were sold out. Same-day walk-ups are a gamble.
Is there a SHIBUYA SKY ticket on GetYourGuide?
Not on its own. We found no standalone entry ticket on GetYourGuide in October 2026. What it does have are guided tours that include admission, and the operator books the ticket when sales open. That is useful if you are planning less than two weeks out, or the slots you want have gone. The Shibuya Walking Tour with SHIBUYA SKY Admission spends an hour on the streets around Hachiko, Center Gai and Miyashita Park, then an hour on the roof, and you can stay after the guide leaves. It costs more than a ticket alone, from $92 in October 2026, and its entry time depends on what the operator can get when tickets are released.
SHIBUYA SKY at sunset
There is no separate sunset ticket. The price changes at 15:00, so a sunset visit is an ordinary afternoon ticket. The competition is for the time window, not the price.
Aim for a slot that gets you onto the roof 30 to 45 minutes before sunset, then stay for the city lights. Sunset was 16:59 on 23 October 2026, according to the official site, and it moves earlier through autumn and later into summer. Book at midnight Japan time two weeks ahead.
Weather matters more than the time. The roof can close without notice for strong wind, rain, snow, approaching thunderclouds, photochemical smog or extreme heat. The 46th-floor indoor deck, SKY GALLERY, stays open, and if the roof is shut at your slot you can cancel an official web ticket free on the day.
Rules on the roof
SHIBUYA SKY is strict about what goes outside, and the rules are about anything that could blow away or fall. On the rooftop you may not take:
- bags of any kind, including backpacks and small pouches
- hats and caps, including knitted hats
- tripods, monopods and selfie sticks
- earphones and headphones
- food and drink
- pushchairs, except the venue’s own loan pushchairs
- anything else that could blow away or fall
You may take a smartphone, and a camera or binoculars that fit in a pocket or hang from a neck strap. Everything else goes in the 46F lockers, which are 32 cm high, 37.5 cm wide and 43 cm deep. If your clothes have no pockets, staff lend a small bag.
Other rules: there is a bag check at entry, no gum, no eating outside the cafe and bar, no smoking anywhere, no pets except assistance dogs, and no carrying children on your shoulders. Tripods are allowed on the indoor 46th floor but may be refused when it is busy.
Do not bring a suitcase. Use station lockers (Tokyu’s lockers cost ¥300 to ¥900 a day depending on size, and from 1 August 2026 some use time-based pricing, so read the price on the locker), the shibuya-san tourist centre on the first floor of Shibuya Fukuras (limited space), or the reservation-only luggage service on the 11th floor of Hikarie.
On Saturday 31 October 2026, costumes the venue judges unsafe may be refused entry.
Is SHIBUYA SKY worth it?
Yes, if the weather is good. The open roof is the difference: you stand outside in the wind with the skyline all around, and one corner looks straight down on the crossing. There is no time limit, so you can watch the light change from day to night on one ticket.
It is less good value when the roof is closed, when you would be paying ¥3,400 for an indoor deck. Check the forecast before you book, and keep the free same-day cancellation in mind if the weather turns.
If you only want to see the crossing from above, cheaper options exist. Our guide to the best view of Shibuya Crossing covers the ¥1,800 MAGNET rooftop and the free Hikarie Sky Lobby.

Tokyo Skytree is 634 m tall and opened in May 2012. It wins on height. SHIBUYA SKY wins on fresh air and on being where you already are. From Shibuya, the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line runs to Oshiage, the district at Skytree’s address, so doing both is easy. If you have time for one, pick SHIBUYA SKY for an evening around Shibuya and Skytree for a day in east Tokyo.
