Where to eat in Shibuya: ramen, sushi and izakaya

Shibuya's food clusters in a few places: Shibuya Yokocho under Miyashita Park for regional Japanese dishes, Nonbei Yokocho for yakitori and tiny bars, Center Gai and Dogenzaka for ramen and casual izakaya, and the food halls in Mark City and Parco. Ichiran's Shibuya branch is open 24 hours.

The best food in Shibuya is spread across a few clusters, all within a short walk of the station. Shibuya Yokocho, on the ground floor of Miyashita Park, lines up regional Japanese dishes in one 100 m alley. Nonbei Yokocho has yakitori and tiny bars. Center Gai and Dogenzaka hold ramen shops and casual izakaya. For takeaway, the food halls under Mark City and in Parco cover bento and sweets. For ramen at 3 a.m., Ichiran’s Shibuya branch never closes.

This page tells you where each kind of food clusters and names restaurants only where the restaurant’s own site or a current Tabelog listing showed them operating in October 2026. It does not give dish prices, which change too often to print. It fits alongside the wider list of things to do in Shibuya.

Ramen in Shibuya

Ramen is the easiest meal in Shibuya to find at any hour. Three names stand out on current listings.

Ichiran Shibuya. The chain’s Shibuya branch is in a basement at 1-22-7 Jinnan, open 24 hours, with 21 single counter seats and no tables, according to Ichiran’s own store page. When it is busy, staff can stop letting people in before last orders.

Tabelog’s Shibuya list. Tabelog is a Japanese restaurant review and booking site. Its Shibuya ramen page, read on 23 October 2026, showed these among the most-viewed shops:

Shop Location (Tabelog) Note
Jikasei MENSHO 409 m from Shibuya Station Selected for Tabelog Ramen Tokyo “Tabelog 100” 2025
Hayashi 360 m from Shibuya Station Closed Wednesdays, Sundays and holidays
Chuka Menten Kiraku 355 m from Shinsen Station Closed Wednesdays
Ichiran Shibuya 236 m from Shibuya Station Open 24 hours

Check closing days on Tabelog before you cross town for a bowl: two of the four close on Wednesdays.

Sushi in Shibuya

Tabelog’s Shibuya sushi list spans a wide range of prices. In October 2026 it gave these dinner budgets, which are Tabelog’s own bands built from diners’ reports:

Restaurant Location (Tabelog) Dinner budget (Tabelog)
Shibuya Sushi Sen 265 m from Shibuya Station ¥6,000 to ¥7,999
Sushi Tokyo Ten, Shibuya 277 m from Shibuya Station ¥10,000 to ¥14,999
Ajuuta 605 m from Shinsen Station; Tabelog 100 2025; closed Sundays ¥30,000 to ¥39,999

Checked October 2026. Lunch budgets on the same listings are about half the dinner figure or less. Tabelog sorts this list by how often travellers book through it, so you can reserve many of these counters online; mention any allergies when you book.

Izakaya, yakitori and drinking food

An izakaya is a Japanese pub that serves food meant to be shared over drinks. Shibuya has three good hunting grounds.

Shibuya Yokocho. The ground floor of Miyashita Park’s South building is a 100 m row of counters, 19 when it opened in 2020, each cooking food from a different region of Japan, Hokkaido to Okinawa. The Kanto counter’s official page lists Edo-mae sushi, Tochigi gyoza and tempura. It is open until 05:00 on most nights, which makes it the easiest late dinner for a group.

Nonbei Yokocho. A post-war alley of about 40 tiny bars and yakitori counters, built in 1950, beside the JR tracks. Many bars are full with seven or eight people, and some add a seat charge, so ask before you order. The Nonbei Yokocho guide explains how it works.

Center Gai and Dogenzaka backstreets. The food tour and the bar crawl below both work the side streets of Udagawacho and Dogenzaka. The crawl’s own description says its bars are ones you would struggle to find alone.

Two rules for the night. Shibuya bans drinking on streets and in public places around the station from 18:00 to 05:00 every night, so finish your drink inside. And street touting is banned ward-wide; never follow a tout into a bar, and check prices before you sit down.

Eating inside the big buildings

If the weather turns, the shopping buildings have their own restaurant floors, and they keep later hours than the shops. Shibuya Parco’s 7th floor, RESTAURANT SEVEN, is laid out for groups and covers yakiniku, sushi, tempura and ramen from 11:00 to 23:00. Its basement, CHAOS KITCHEN, mixes small restaurants with a bar, a record shop and a gallery; Parco names Udon Oniyanma and a vegan izakaya, Masaka, among them. RAYARD Miyashita Park’s restaurants open 11:00 to 23:00, and its food hall opens at 11:00 on weekdays and 10:30 at weekends. Travel guides list Shibuya Scramble Square’s restaurant floors at 11:00 to 23:00 as well. Hours were checked in October 2026; individual restaurants can differ.

Food halls and takeaway

Tokyu Food Show is the big food hall under Shibuya Mark City, on 1F, B1 and the Shibuchika underground level, open 10:00 to 21:00 daily. Sweets are mostly on 1F, bento, deli dishes and bread mostly on the Shibuchika level, and fresh fish, meat and produce on B1, with a few eat-in cafes.

A takeaway bento from a food hall makes an easy picnic on the free rooftop lawn at Miyashita Park. Take your rubbish with you: littering has carried a ¥2,000 on-the-spot fine in the ward since 1 June 2026.

Food and drink tours

A tour helps most when you do not read Japanese menus and want to try several things in one go. Three listings on GetYourGuide stop in the Shibuya Station area.

The Shibuya Food Tour (13 dishes and 3 Eateries) is a three-hour evening walk through Center Gai and Dogenzaka for up to ten people, from $51 in October 2026. Its includes list names food at an izakaya, a street stall and a traditional eatery, plus dessert and two drinks. But one line of the same listing says dishes are not included. Read the current inclusions on the listing before you book, and ask the operator if it is unclear.

The Shibuya Local Bar & Izakaya Crawl Tour visits three small bars and izakaya in the backstreets over three hours, from $38. The fee covers the guide and entry only: you pay for all food and drinks on the night, in cash. It is for over-20s.

The Sake Tasting Experience in Shibuya with Snack Pairing is a 70-minute guided tasting at a standing bar in Udagawacho, up a flight of stairs with no lift. Snacks come only with the pairing option.

For more evening ideas, see Shibuya at night, and for the whole area start at the Shibuya Japan homepage.

Questions people ask

What food is Shibuya known for?

Shibuya has no single local dish. It is known for variety in a small area: ramen counters, sushi counters, yakitori in Nonbei Yokocho, and regional Japanese food from Hokkaido to Okinawa in Shibuya Yokocho under Miyashita Park. Department-store food halls such as Tokyu Food Show sell bento, sweets and deli dishes to take away.

Where can I eat ramen in Shibuya?

Ichiran's Shibuya branch at 1-22-7 Jinnan is open 24 hours with 21 single counter seats. Tabelog's Shibuya ramen list in October 2026 also included Jikasei MENSHO, picked for Tabelog's Ramen Tokyo 100 in 2025, Hayashi near the station and Chuka Menten Kiraku near Shinsen Station. Where can I eat sushi in Shibuya?

Lunch budgets are about half or less.

Where are the best izakaya in Shibuya?

Look in three places. Shibuya Yokocho on the ground floor of Miyashita Park has 19 counters of regional food and drink in a 100 m row. Nonbei Yokocho, by the JR tracks, is a 1950 alley of tiny bars and yakitori counters. The backstreets of Center Gai and Dogenzaka hold many more, which is where Shibuya's bar crawl tours go.

Is the Shibuya food tour worth it?

It suits first-time visitors who want several kinds of food in one evening without guessing at menus. The Shibuya Food Tour runs three hours through Center Gai and Dogenzaka for up to ten people, from $51 in October 2026. Its listing contradicts itself on whether food is included, so read the inclusions on GetYourGuide before you book.
